Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Reads

So this week The Broke and the Bookish has given us free rein to choose our own top ten. These are my top ten most anticipated reads. Some of these books have already been released, others are only due out in 2013, but I can’t wait to read each and every one of them!

1. Rootless by Chris Howard – what sounds like a poignant post-apocalyptic story told from a boy’s POV. He builds trees from scrap metal – ’nuff said!

2. My Chemical Mountain by Corina Vacco – another post-apocalyptic story told from a boy’s POV. Love the nihilistic slant in this one – should be awesome!

3.  Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown – contemporary YA about a girl who’s life is destroyed when her ex-boyfriend sends a naked photo of her to his entire baseball team. Sounds like a powerful story relevant to the now.

4. Ashes on the Waves by Mary Lindsey – this story is based on Poe’s Annabel Lee poem. That is all I needed to know to want to read this book!

5. Coda by Emma Trevayne – a dystopian novel with music at the core. Love this combination!

6. Black City by Elizabeth Richards – another post-apocalyptic story (they never get old) which sounds as dark as it is intriguing.

7. Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black – a story about ballet involving demons. Need I say more?

8. Ecko Rising by Danie Ware – described as a genre-bending sci-fi epic following the cynical and savage anti-hero. Yup, sounds like a book I’d love!

9. Torchwood: Exodus Code by John and Carole Barrowman – I’m a huge Torchwood fan and was devastated when the series came to a semi-permanent end. I read the Barrowmans’ MG book and loved the writing so I’m hoping this is as good.

and finally, last but definitely not least, the novel I have been long awaiting…

10. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman – I love Neil Gaiman like I love no other author. There is just something so subtle and so sublime about his writing, his stories and characters that makes me ache for more long after I’ve turned the last page. I’ve been dying to sink my teeth into another Gaiman novel so I simply cannot wait until this one is released!
